RALEIGH CHILD VIGNETTE PORTRAITS
As a heirloom portrait photographer in Raleigh, I recently traveled to the heart of our city to photograph a black and white photography session of a charming little 5-year-old girl. I always strive to capture timeless moments that evoke emotions, and this session was no exception. There's something undeniably captivating about black and white photography. It has the power to strip away distractions, allowing us to focus solely on the subject and the story behind each frame.
I always strive to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, as my goal is to always capture children's genuine emotions. For this child, I took my mobile studio to her family home and set it up in her playroom where she was at ease. This was the second time I'd worked with this sweet family, and this kiddo is pure joy. She has a funny sense of humor, and a vibrant personality. I knew right away that this session was going to be special.
We knew going into her photography session that the goal was to create a charcoal heirloom portrait from one of the images. The absence of color in black and white photography allows us to focus in on the subject and their emotions. Her expressive eyes and sweet expressions translated beautifully into a vignette portrait. Once I finished the artwork for her charcoal portrait, it was preserved on pure cotton, floated into a museum grade mat, and custom framed and delivered ready to hang on the walls of her family home.
