RALEIGH BLACK AND WHITE VIGNETTE PORTRAITS
Just outside Raleigh, I recently had the opportunity to create a black and white charcoal heirloom portrait for a precious little boy and his family. I traveled to his family home to capture the reference photos for his portrait, and decided to set up my mobile photography studio right where he felt most at ease – his playroom. As a Raleigh children's photographer, I understand the importance of creating a comfortable environment for my young subjects. The playroom setting allowed the children to be themselves, resulting in candid shots that authentically reflected their personalities.
Accompanied by his little brother, we took a series of reference photos, capturing various expressions ranging from serious and pensive to big belly laughs. But in the end, his parents gravitated towards an image that showcased a thoughtful expression, drawing attention to his soulful eyes. This carefully chosen moment became the focal point for his black and white vignette portrait.
The choice to create his portrait as a black and white sketch allows the focus to remain on the emotion captured in his eyes, creating a piece that would stand the test of time.
In Raleigh's fast-paced lifestyle, the art of turning a picture into a sketch or painting becomes a means to slow down time. It serves as a reminder that amidst the daily chaos, there are little moments of quietness scattered throughout each day, each deserving of celebration and preservation.
If you are searching for a Raleigh heirloom photographer adept at capturing the essence of childhood, creating black and white vignettes that endure, and transforming pictures into timeless heirloom portraits, I would love for you to get in touch. In every stroke of charcoal, in every captured gaze, lies a memory waiting to be preserved for generations.
