RALEIGH BLACK AND WHITE VIGNETTE PORTRAITS
As a children's photographer in Raleigh, I recently worked with a client to create a charcoal heirloom portrait for their son. He was at a really sweet milestone in early toddlerhood, one made even sweeter by the fact that we had documented his big sister at a similar age for her own portrait painting. The client, residing in the western part of the state, traveled to my Raleigh photography studio for the portrait session, which is such an honor.
Dressed in classic all-white European-style clothes, this sweet little guy knocked his reference images out of the park. He had the sweetest little disposition and sense of humor. The gallery of proofs for his black and white vignette portrait was absolutely precious and choosing the one image for his portrait was tough as he had so many sweet expressions. But this choice of a gentle smile for his finished portrait was perfect to showcase his little personality and sparkling eyes.
The creation of this heirloom portrait is a multistep process; it's so fun seeing it come together. Crafted with 100% hand torn cotton and all conservation and museum grade materials, it was then float-mounted and custom-framed to complement his sister's portrait perfectly. The classic elements in the child's wardrobe and expression, paired with the timelessness of the materials used to create the finished portrait, are what makes heirloom photography so special.
Once the finishing touches were applied, we packaged it carefully and sent it off. I hope this sweet family finds joy in seeing both their little ones portraits now side by side on the wall. The most rewarding part of being a classic children's photographer in Raleigh is knowing that the art we create now will live on for generations.
