NORTH CAROLINA CHILDREN'S PORTRAIT ARTIST
I absolutely adore this charcoal heirloom portrait of this sweet girl. I traveled to Wilmington for her portrait session; we planned it a few months in advance knowing this was a special time for this portrait. She is quickly heading into her teen years, and it was important we capture one last little girl portrait. The tween years are becoming one of my fastest growing ages for heirloom and fine art portraits, and with good reason.
I have two nieces and one nephew, all grown up now. One of my biggest regrets is stopping their yearly portraits when they reached 10 years old. To me at the time, they looked so grown up and the years were going by so fast. But when I look back at snapshots of them at 10 and 12 and even 15 and 16 years old, they look so little to me now. I wish we had beautiful, classic portraits like these to cherish, and the fact that we don't is something I will deeply regret forever. We can't go back; that chapter has closed.
I know their little baby faces are fading; I know you long for the days they curled up in your lap; I know you miss hearing them pitter patter down the hall in footie jammies. I know they look all grown up to you now, but I promise they are not. And these early tween and teen years are so, so very important to document. This is an absolutely huge milestone - the closing of the chapter of young childhood. Learn from my mistake; don't miss it.
We commission heirloom portraits and heirloom photography sessions for your tweens and teens across North Carolina.
