Just outside the heart of Raleigh, NC, where southern charm meets modern living, I recently had the pleasure of working with a family to capture a precious milestone portrait for their  1-year-old little girl. Several years ago we had successfully created a pastel portrait for her older brother at the same age. 

I packed up my mobile studio and traveled to their family home just outside Raleigh to take her photography session. I have found that keeping small children in their comfortable environments leads to such a low key and stress free photo shoot for them and their parents! So right there in the middle of their living room, we ventured into the world of classic children's portraits, embracing the simplicity and charm of old-fashioned photography. 

I provided the wardrobe for her portrait, and her mom chose a timeless light pink smocked dress from Feltman Brothers children's clothing store. It was the perfect choice for that simple elegance you want from heirloom style clothing for kids. 

We ended up with so many precious images of her that ranged from serious and thoughtful to big belly laughs. In the end, her parents opted for a pose that showcased the softest little smile, a classic expression that showed her personality while still allowing her bright eyes to take center stage.
