As a Raleigh children's photographer, I specialize in luxury heirloom portraits, focusing on beautiful black and white vignette paintings of kids. I recently had the best time with a four-year-old girl during her reference photography session in my Garner studio. Her family made the trip from out of state, excited to capture her personality, especially since I had done a charcoal heirloom portrait of her older sister a couple of years back.

Her session was so much fun! We shared plenty of laughs, and her happiness made it easy to get those genuine expressions. One trick I like to use is to engage kids with fun prompts or games, which helps them relax and brings out their natural expressions. It's really important to me that I connect with each child that sits in front of my lens. I always want to be sure to capture their true personality. We worked through a few poses, and the final result was a stunning charcoal black and white head and shoulders vignette that really captured her spirit.
