When we were first starting the planning process for this sweet baby's milestone heirloom portrait, we considered going several different directions. After learning more about her little personality, as well as the milestone we were capturing, her first birthday, we decided one of the full body portrait paintings was the perfect way to celebrate her. Our next step was to consider the decorating style and furnishings in the family home. It was clear the Garden Portrait Painting was the way to go with its deep, rich color palette.

We got to work planning the session for her reference photos, as well as narrowing down the best wardrobe options for her. Her parents chose this gorgeous vintage smocked Feltman Brothers dress in a winter white; which was the perfect choice. We took her reference photography session one evening at Fred Fletcher park in Raleigh. It was a beautiful night and she did amazing. We ended up with so many precious images that would have translated beautifully to a portrait painting. But her mom and dad settled on this precious capture of her, since it perfectly showcased her inquisitive nature, and sweet disposition. As a bonus, we all really loved those precious piggy toes peeking out from under her dress too!
